An Island Park woman was arrested Monday after stealing more than $56,000 from two dental offices where she worked, Nassau police said.

Deborah Ervin, 45, pocketed cash payments from patients while she was the bookkeeper-manager for a Rockville Centre practice between September 2014 and November 2014, police said.

She was fired shortly after thefts were uncovered, but it wasn’t until this year that the victim discovered Ervin had made unauthorized debits from the business account to pay her personal bills from December 2014 to January 2016, police said. The dentist lost more than $48,000, police said.

But Ervin also was stealing from a Valley Stream dentist between last November and last month, police said. As the receptionist, she kept more than $8,000 in cash payments from patients, police said.

She was arrested at home and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead on three counts of third-degree grand larceny and two counts of falsifying business records.
